We received this e-mail today, and right now we’re just being made aware of the allegations listed therein, so we’re certain our candidates for sheriff and others in the law enforcement community can either confirm or deny them.
It was a good time for Ray Stewart to retire. Hopefully we don’t have a Dallas County situation on our hands.
Your county jail in Waxahachie is a joke. Also the people who are supposely
running it from the captain to the medical staff is not doing there job.
Something needs to be done about it and now! There are many inmates in the
jail who have staph infections and no one seems to give a damn, which makes
it impossible for others who need medical attention because they are afraid
they may get a staph infection also. I am sure you are aware they did not
pass the inspections. Tolets over flow from the upstairs to the downstairs

I understood the jail did not pass inspection because they did not have enough jailers for the inmate population not because of the condition of the jail. Does anyone know if this is true?

J.B. you are correct. The only problem with the Jail is not enough jailers. Everything else PASSED with flying colors. It is not the Sheriff’s fault that he does not have enough Jailers. The commissioners tell him how many he can have.

Anytime Staph infections are running rampant in a Jail the Jailers are also at risk, not just the inmates. How bout a relative safe work enviroment?

Not in Ellis County… radios don’t work, unsanitary conditions, supervisors don’t get trained properly, the admin hires officers that are scared of inmates or are too lazy to do their job. THE REASON it’s short handed is the Sheriff’s Department’s fault… It might not have been Sheriff Stewart’s fault, but that would be because he doesn’t know that his Lazy, fat ass Jail Administrator doesn’t do a well enough not replacing those officers who leave. Following this inspection, they did hire additional jail staff, thus filling most vacancies. Of course, that didn’t last long after something else came along, and this one slipped under the radar. When i was in this hell on earth there was a lack of caring staff and the staff that was there were uncaring and never around. I was hit by another inmate and it took 45 mins for anyone to respond to the attack. This jail is a joke !!! The staff are the worst people i have ever seen. You sould be ashamed of this ellis county!!!!!!
