Advice to GOP Candidates Running For Sheriff: Don’t write off the town of Bardwell (pop. 583)
Reason: One councilman says that about 96% of all calls for law enforcement help are answered by sheriff deputies, not the turmoil-ridden police department. Some in Bardwell have called for the total dissolving of their PD in exchange for having a ECSO sub-station planted there instead.
There’s going to be a story in The Ellis County Press hopefully this week that will shine the light on what’s going on with the police out there in Bardwell.
And for Steve McKinney, James Ledbetter, and Johnny Brown, I’m hoping those guys make a special platform issue just for Bardwell. Those citizens need responsive law enforcement, and right now, it’s apparent that they’re not getting any.
