If Congressman Joe Barton, R-Ennis, doesn’t vote against the otherwise-automatic pay raise the U.S. House bestows upon themselves, he will receive $169,300 — that’s up $4,000 from last year.
Barton has voted for the pay raise numerous times before, but at $169,300 - for a congressman who’s just now getting conservative voting records (consistently) - that is just simply too much.

Doesn’t include the Perks.
He doesn’t pay Social Security. He works for the Government. Doesn’t need medicare. He works for the Government.
Lots of Holidays, set your own hours, free medical for life, AND…..
You can only get fired once every 4 years, regardless of how much you screw up.
I wonder if he was ever a County Judge??

Actually he is elected every two years and has to maintain two households (In His district & in Washington DC). AND he works about 100+ hours per week making himself available to the people he represents.
While I have many gripes about our US Reps their salary is not one of them.

You can only get fired once every 2 years, regardless of how much you screw up.

I hate to have to be the one to say this, but congressmen have been paying into social security since 1984, the year Barton was first elected. See http://usgovinfo.about.com/library/weekly/aa031200a.htm
