Sometimes I forget to read my own newspaper.
The Ellis County Press ran a front-page update on the missing $10,000 from the Red Oak tax office:

RED OAK – The Texas Rangers are assisting Red Oak Independent School District police investigator’s in the disappearance of $10,000 from the county’s Red Oak tax office.ROISD PD investigator Erick Scott said his department met with Tax Assessor-Collector John Bridges and the Texas Rangers Monday to coordinate efforts on the missing money, which reportedly came up missing after two employees left work in mid-December.
Scott said there were no signs of forced entry on the safe containing the money or the building housing the county tax office and the Acorn Academy.
This is not the first time money from the Red Oak tax office came up missing.
A former county employee is currently serving five years in prison for her part in embezzling auto registration fees, according to County Attorney Joe Grubbs.
