Sheriff Candidates on Immigration

So far, of the law enforcement candidates - minus the Democrats for now - to turn in their Q&As on the immigration issue, I have received n o t h i n g.

Regardless if the sheriff or constable has any jurisdiction over immigration, the candidates will comply with the public’s willingness to know where their candidates stand. Of a pool of about 300 certified people, we have three sheriff candidates - that’s it.

We have six if you count the four Republicans and two Democrats vying for constable seats.

To be fair, I’ve asked these questions to our two commissioners up for re-election as well.

My deadline for this article — for The Ellis County Press only — will be Monday, Jan. 21 at noon.

Two questions:

Q: What role does the Ellis County Sheriff or Ellis County law enforcement have in enforcing immigration laws, rules, statutes, etc.

Q: What is your specific plan - if any - to combat the problem of illegal aliens in Ellis County, whether in the pursuit of drug traffickers or other criminals, or in principle.

Note: Deadline is Monday at noon. I posted this at 2:45 a.m. Monday. I sent the Q&A on immigration on Jan. 11. I still have hope.

  • You could get a wagon load of Illegals next to the Sonic in Midlothian (surely they are violating fire codes there)and when they wait to get picked up for work they are in front of the US POST OFFICE!
