Kevin Haynes, the Ennis ISD police chief that was caught on tape assaulting an Ovilla Police Department officer?
Well, when County Attorney Joe Grubbs called directly to the OPD, they had a simple request (given that Grubbs had reportedly just told them that Haynes’ attorneys wanted a plea bargain): total surrender of Haynes’ police badge.
Grubbs reportedly paused a minute and said, “I’m shocked [you, OPD] would request that.”
Haynes turned in his badge voluntarily and his TCLEOSE license.
He plead to lesser charges of DWI and assaulting a police officer. Question: had this been me on tape assaulting an officer, what kinda punishment do you think I would have gotten?
(before anyone answers that in the form of a comment, I know, I know, what punishment would I not get right?)

There is an old rule – Violence that moves up the power structure hierarchy is dealt with more harshly than violence that moves down the hierarchy. If it would even be labeled violence on those positioned lower on the hierarchy.

So I’m guessing you think he wasn’t punished enough?
