There was a lot more buzz and controversy generated than I thought regarding an incident involving a son of a prominent real estate icon.
Back and forth, back and forth the comments go (and I have removed more of the inflammatory material out of a request from a respected local attorney), but in the midst of all of this debate and discussion, people are missing the point: the victims in this sordid ordeal are about to be railroaded.
And what’s worse, everything has taken a turn for the personal. This has nothing to do with someone personally. In fact, it has everything to do with protecting victims from “persons of privilege” - those spoiled, looked-after, it’s-who-you-know types who can just as easily keep their asses covered with a phone call to the Waxahachie Daily Light to keep from their precious little reputation being tarnished.
Well I’m here to tell everyone that I care not who you’re related to. I care not who you are or what political party you’re a member of. I care not about anything other than seeking justice for people who have the most to lose in this county.
The things I’ve done have been published, discussed, debated, etc. Half the stuff I “go after” people for on this very blog I’ve done — and by the grace of God I’ve been shown mercy by the local authorities. So my conscience is clear when I screw up - because I know it’ll get out and people will know about it.
But when it comes to prominent individuals within our community, a simple phone call or meeting is arranged and nothing is ever heard of it.
Well this is a new day in Ellis County, ladies and gentlemen. Your children are now my property. Your private life is now open for public scrutiny. If you are in a public capacity - or utilize your position or power to deliberately withhold information to protect someone and I find out about it - it will be exposed.
I care not if you’re my relative. I care not if you are my best friend. If you are in a public role and you screw up - or one of your kids screw up - the public will know about it.
The people of privilege in this county won’t be able to make a phone call to The Ellis County Observer or The Ellis County Press to keep from public records or rumors from going public. However, when there is a bona-fide mistake, we’ll correct ourselves.
This should serve as a warning to those who seek to use their positions and their profiles to keep things hidden. It’s like a lie. The more you keep it in, the bigger the effect when it is finally made known.

“Victims” you mean the poor innocent black guys who stabbed someone while trying to grab a bag of weed?

You failed at your attempt to seek a city council seat and now you continue to fail in your attempt to be taken seriously. Your newest rant sounds like something that would come out of the mouth of Mike Tyson. I was fully expecting to hear, “I will eat your children’s hearts.”
Like I stated previously you continue to bash a fine family based on some poor decisions by one of their sons. Do you really have so little of an excuse for a life that this is the best thing you can find to do with your time? I mean really, if it were not for the fact that these things were being posted on the internet no one would even see them. I certainly can not imagine anyone actually paying to read this garbage.
I have spent far more time than you deserve in responding to this non-sense. Do this county a favor, either grow up or simply go away, go far far away!

You own our children? Joey, I’ve got to say, that’s a little bit scary that you think that. Have you met my children? Would you know them by sight? Have you been to their schools? Have you talked to them or approached them in any fashion? Do you propose to support them or harm them in any fashion? As a parent, I’d like to know what you are saying your intent is toward my children. Do I, as a parent, need to be concerned over someone on the internet stalking my children in hopes they will do something you can report or possibly take advantage of them in some way? Please clarify.

Joey,
I am very disappointed that you have allowed yourself to be used once again. From the very beginning of this Rust family episode you eluded to information coming from a criminal defense lawyer.I guess he failed to tell you of his clients past or the fact that he stabbed young Mr. Rust multiple times.Did it ever occur to you that your friend the lawyer used you in an attempt to compell Mr. Rust not to testify in a hearing this morning. I believe that witness tampering is a felony and you may have unwittingly been a party to such.Joey your in over your head, you have no friends you can trust you need to wise up and man up.An apology will go a long way. Please consider that.

He means exactly what he said. Through all his rants and raves about justice and the abuses of power, it is he who feels that he is above the law. This self-proclaimed savior is no more than a youthful tyrant; the equivelant of a young serial killer experimenting on small animals. This has nothing to do with saving the people from corruption, but a method of feeding an over-inflated ego, wouldn’t you say Hannibal?

I’m in no way supporting the “theft” of weed, but let’s look at this issue at its main point, its most elementary basic point: there was a potential drug deal. The person or persons involved were linked to a very prominent individual. THAT is the issue. Let the black kids be treated the same way everyone else would be.
There are three charges against these two black kids, two involving “robbery” and “aggravated robbery.” THAT IS A PROBLEM. THAT IS A VERY BIG RED FLAG. How can you charge someone with robbery or aggravated robbery when no one is entitled to an illegal substance?
The “stabbing” was probably not deserved, but WHO HAD THE KNIFE? What was the intent - the criminal intent - of pulling a knife?
This is what happens in drug deals. Thank God a gun wasn’t involved or it could have gotten real nasty.
Let’s talk about the main issue here instead of the personality/character of who the father is.
It’s a fact that due to who the father is - just his position, not his personality - his sons have gotten off with EVERYTHING damn near.
THAT is the issue here.
I will not issue an apology whatsoever. I meant everything I have said and posted.
If you’re in a neighborhood with the intent to deal, buy, sell drugs then you GET WHAT YOU DESERVE. If I were to walk into a crack house and there were bombs and the house blew up, THAT IS WHAT I DESERVE.
When committing illegal acts, you assume the risk of harm either physically, mentally or emotionally.
I don’t have sympathy for people who will use their relative’s coattails or friend’s coattails to hide, distort or otherwise cover up what’s going on.
We’re getting into the Shoot the Messenger way too much here instead of looking at this stuff the proper way.
Had this been any regular Joe on the street this issue would not be getting near the heat it’s been getting.

True, you would not be doing this except you enjoy maliciously attacking a respected family you feel is higher on the social ladder than yours. That is discrimination.
February 7, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Well, Mike, if it’s any consolation - assuming you would reveal your real name - your family would be next.
That’s only if you were to ever use your position, power or authority to withhold certain information from the public.
And judging by the comments, you’re just that type of guy.

“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing, but newspapers.”
“Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. “Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle”
“Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct.”
“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.”
“If you don’t read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed. ”
You guessed it! ALL commonly attributed to Thomas Jefferson, himself a victim of such scandelous “truths”. But hey, the hounds are here to protect the ignorant public, right?
