ROISD: Niven Rejects Complaint

My names Keith Johnson, author of www.corruptredoakisd.comMr. Joey Dauben was gracious enough to allow me to post on his blog-thank you very much Joey.   I’m taking to task the ROISD employees that created such a hostile environment for my daughter that eventually we had to take her out of the school.  Today, ROISD employees like to cast themselves in the role of victim;  the victim was my daughter.
Mr Dauben,  following up on my accusations on my website that ROISD Police Chief Scott Lindsey killed a criminal investigation we brought to his attention with a phone call, contacted Lindsey.
I have no problem with Scott Lindsey whining to his friends or family over this incident.  What I do take exception to is the response he gave Mr. Dauben.  When Scott Lindsey talks to a reporter, especially a locally famous writer such as Joey Dauben, he is speaking as ROISD Police Chief Scott Lindsey.  in his awnser to Mr. Dauben, he brags that he could sue me for defamation;  he implores Mr. Dauben to not give this “obvious attempt to slander many people the press that he wants”, and Scott Lindsey actually lies to Mr. Dauben when he tells him in his tesponse that I have been “shut down by multiple media outlets for a reason.”  My daughters story has been reported in the Waxahachie Daily Light and sister publication the Ellis County Chronicle, and my entire family was interviewed on NBC5 last summer regarding the constitution change by ROISD employee June Burrow.  Other media venues are monitoring this fiasco as it develops.
My family has suffered enough at the hands of ROISD, up to and including threats by the fired son of coach June Burrow.  I will not have the ROISD police chief condemning me to a local reporter from the perch of his official capacity.  I  submitted a written complaint over this to Lindsey’s boss, ROISD Superintendent Scott Niven.
Two weeks after I sent the complaint to Scott Niven, I received a letter from Niven with the following quote;
“I am in receipt of your letter dated January 21, 2008. received by Red Oaks ISD January 23, 2008, expressing concerns about Red Oak ISD Police Chief Scott Li9ndsey.  I am enclosing a copy of Red Oak ISD Board Policy, GF (LOCAL) which describes the appropriate complaint process and a Level One Complaint Form.  If you wish to pursue this further please complete the enclosed complaint form and return it my office.”  Niven returned my written complaint with this letter.
I don’t work for Scott Lindsey, Scott Niven,  or the ROISD they work for me and you.  This is so typical of what we have experienced with this district throughout our ordeal.  My complaint was rejected because I didn’t put it on the proper form!
Needless to say, I filled out the complaint and filled it out the following day.
We have gotten many responses on our website from other parents who have felt shortchanged by the ROISD.  One parent even called me to tell me about his daughter being asked sexual questions when trying out for an ROISD position.  The common theme is, these parents all gave up and went away.  We aren’t going anywhere, our daughter’s reputation and name were stolen from her at ROISD, and while we can’t fix that we can strive to hold those that subjugated her responsible.

It appears that Mr. Johnson has pointed out quite accurately the position the Red Oak Chief Of Police, Scott Lindsey has placed himself in. To defame a citizen, any citizen, to the media and using his official capacity of Chief Of Police to do it is an act of “Official Misconduct” just for starters and an abuse of his authority as Police Chief. Everyone has a “Boss”. Who is his and why are they putting up with it. I’ll tell you why. The “Good Ol Boy” system.
How long are you folks going to put up with it? When are you going to join Mr. Johnson and other citizens in your community and get rid of these slugs? I am a retired veteran police officer with 32 years experience in a rather large Illinois city. Acts like these sicken me because of the shadow it casts over all law enforcement officers who as a whole are 99.9% honest dedicated people.

  • It starts at the top! When are folks in ROISD going to revitalize the school board? It won’t happen if the same folks have 8-10 year careers as Board members.

  • Scott Lindsey sickens me. I will continue with my comments tomorrow. I must really think about how I want to comment because if I do it right now — I will sound a lot like Adam Foley — another slug like Lindsey.

  • What a surprise, another incident in Ellis CO. Or should I say, a severe lack of concern for those they VOW to serve. I thank Joey Daubin again, for having the guts to do what others shy from. Take your shots Joey and keep up the good work.

  • I read all of you post here and on your website.

Looks like you are lucky that the letter of the law is not enforced. You daughter confessed to a felony in her account of what happened. She confessed to “Unauthorized access of a computer” when she logged into the girl’s myspace page with her friends password that she just happened to know.

Dude, let it go, get a life. All you are doing is continuing the grief for your family. All of this hate and unforgiveness is just going burn a whole in your soul.

I am sorry that your daughter had a hard time. She is not the only one. I am confident that there is someone that she, or your wife or you have hurt during your life. The things that you are saying about other people in your posts are evidence. Just look at the comments in response to your post. Don’t you see that you are doing the same thing. But instead of kids and cliques, it is adults and websites.

  • It sounds like the community is not taking the concerns about the ROISD school board and the chiief of police seriously. No student, or family, should have to put up with the lack of action and neglience by the officials in Red Oak. Ryann Johnson’s story deseves all the attention it can get.

  • AMEN!

  • My kids have been in ROISD for 8 years now and have had nothing but wonderful experiences! Chief Lindsey, faculty, and administration have always went beyond what has been expected. He often works class events, “free of charge” because he cares for the kids. He supports them in everything they do. He is there for them in the good and bad times! I am more secure in sending my kids to ROISD knowing he is in charge! I’m sorry for your experience but I had to comment and show my support for Chief Lindsey.

Niven is working on a plan now that will decrease your property value! Ask questions! Call admin and ask what is going on. He did the same thing to his previous district. By claiming that Red Oak is a ghetto he will get more money to hire more friends from east texas..like his security camera team..no one in this area knew what they were doing so he had to call in a company from east texas! Have you noticed the long employeement list on the ISD website? It is not even summer and we have this many people missing??? People are being let go or jumping ship before they are dismissed. Teachers and staff are afraid to say anything against Niven, Humphrey or Flowers for fear of losing their jobs! Is this how you want your school district run? Nazis! Niven is not an educator! he is a corporate nazi! He does favors for his friends…like hiring their wives to work at the admin office. Speak up against the current leadership!

  • Well, there are a few things odd about ROISD and how Mr. Nevins does business. ROISD put out a bid to install a camera system throughout the district and when pricing came in, his buddy’s company KLC Video was not the cheapest. He then squashed all of the bidders and supposedly awarded the $314,000 project to KLC Video anyway, through a GSA Pricelist. I find this very odd that KLC Video was awarded the project when they were not anywhere near the cheapest and it just so happens their office is where Mr. Nevin came from when he accepted the position with ROISD, Texarkana. Even odder, KLC Video had only been in business for 2 years. Is this the faith we are putting all our money in? It appears ROISD works on the buddy system. I tried to find KLC on a GSA List, and oddly enough I cannot find them. Geese, KLC only has a single page website that is half complete! Why would we do this when local companies bid at a better price???
