Reports are that several Red Oak school officials approached City of Ovilla about putting an elementary school within the city limits, only to have Ovilla balk.
I’ve advocated a separate, independent school district for Ovilla for quite some time, but this is a clear indication that Ovilla might not want schools at all.

Why should Ovilla support a school facility and infrastructure when Red Oak ISD has done it for them for years? What’s in it for Ovilla other than overhead? They didn’t balk, it was a good business decision for Ovilla.
Now the bigger and “cooler” question is how long until Red Oak ANNEXES Ovilla and THEN builds the school and picks up the property tax base? Don’t think it can happen? Just look at Ferris….

Ovilla should have its own school district. It has a wealthy tax base that could finance a football team that would dominate other 1A schools from the sticks elsewhere in the state.
