Open government activists allege that the City of Midlothian forced down these two signs because they weren’t “political.” We’re still getting details on this thing, but the signs are back up around town.
This might be a First Amendment fight Midlothian doesn’t want to wage…

When I was on the city council in a nearby city, we had the same thing happen. We were soon the recipient of a demand letter by Cindy Lieferman, Esq., who told us we were violating the individual’s 1st amendment rights. After consulting with Louis Sifford, our city attorney, we left the signs alone. (Louis advised we’d not only lose the lawsuit, but that our ordinance would get kicked out the window in the process.)
