Joe Schmoe announces for tax collector

WAXAHACHIE – Joe Schmoe announced his Republican candidacy for Ellis County tax collector amid a sea of 200 angry taxpayers.

Schmoe, 50, is a member of the local Lion’s Club, Rotary Club and he hasn’t beat his wife in several years.

“You can use some sort of quote here,” Schmoe said. “Like, for example, I’m a much nicer guy than my opponent, and I sure as heck won’t run the tax office like Adolf Hitler.”

The tax office, which has four satellite locations and has a budget in excess of $2 million annually, should be a bully pulpit for advocating lower taxes, Schmoe said.

“Lower taxes and the Republican Party are at odds right now, and we must change out our elected leaders in hopes that we will connect the platform to the results like we did with Reagan and exactly like we did with Goldwater,” Schmoe said. “There isn’t much trust with the Republican Party and that’s because our leaders have lost their way on lower taxes.”

Schmoe is single and resides in a truck near Chambers Creek. His five dogs keep him busy.
