The Ellis County Observer Partners w/ CBS 11-TV

Dallas’ CBS 11-TV has launched a pretty cool partnership with local blogs and newspapers.

Basically it’s like this:

But, before I get into detail, allow me to quote former D Magazine Publisher Wick Allison in response to my editorial-front page-analysis three years ago on the “myth of deregulation”:

“The Ellis County Press is the best newspaper in DFW.”

Note: D Magazine and CBS-11 partnered up several years ago.

Johnny Brown’s Military Record

From now on, if I read another comment on sheriff candidate Johnny Brown’s military record on this site, I will permanently ban the IP addresses and user names.

We can agree to disagree on issues, but the supporters of both candidates in the April 8 run-off are acting like little children.

My sandbox is going to be turned into a concrete batch plant before too long and then nobody will get to play.

Keep it civil or get your own blog.

Sex Offender Ordinances

Regardless of how passionate people are on an issue, we shouldn’t allow emotions to dictate public policy.

Such is the case on immigration. Yes, there are many problems associated with illegal aliens, but deporting everyone isn’t the solution.

Such is also the case in our drive to rid this area of sex offenders or restricting where they can travel, locate, read, live, shop, etc.

Ramsey Thanks Supporters

Rodney Pat Ramsey’s first public comments since he was defeated for the DA position on March 4:

I just wanted to take the time to thank all of you that helped during our run for District Attorney. I know that many of you spent many hours of your time, and your money, in support of our call for a change.

I must tell you that although I am disappointed with the poor turnout, and the fact that we did not win, I am certainly proud and humbled that so many would turn out and vote in support of our campaign. We may not have received the win we were expecting, but we did make a statement, and identified many local rats in the process.

Please tell eveyone you know on your lists how much I appreciate the support, and their vote. I just hope that maybe, just maybe we have spurred others on the run for office in this county. We still need a change in our county government.

Again, I can’t possibly put into words how much I appreciate the support and assistance, and I wont forget it either.

Ferris: Funeral For a Friend

Gail Villa, the co-owner of the historic Bea’s Cafe in downtown Ferris, recently passed away.

Lots of local political figures, dignataries and others discussed politics in Villa’s restaurant.

She’ll be missed.
